Frequently Asked Questions
Known Guy · Last updated August 25, 2026
Quick answers about vouches, badges, jobs, and how Known Guy fits into your next application.
What is Known Guy?
Known Guy is a professional social trust network. Unlike traditional professional platforms filled with unverified claims and random connections, Known Guy visualizes your real-world reputation through vouches from people who actually know and have worked with you.
How does the "Vouch" system work?
A vouch is a digital confirmation of professional trust. You share your personal vouch link (knownguy.com/v/yourname) with a colleague, manager, or client. They sign in, confirm how they know you, and that vouch is attached to your public profile as transparent proof of your track record.
Is Known Guy free to use?
Yes. Creating your trust profile, receiving vouches, generating your badge, and browsing job listings is free for professionals.
Why should I add a Known Guy Badge to my CV or job applications?
Recruiters often receive hundreds of similar resumes for a single role. A Known Guy profile link or badge on your CV shows that real people in your network stand behind your work — helping your application stand out from a cold applicant pool.
How do I use Known Guy when applying for a job?
Find a role on our Jobs tab (or any company’s career page).
Generate your badge and copy your public profile link (knownguy.com/p/yourname) from the dashboard.
Paste the link — or attach your badge — in your application, cover letter, or LinkedIn profile.
Can anyone vouch for me?
Anyone in your professional network with your vouch link can vouch — after signing in with Google, LinkedIn, or GitHub. Vouches show the sender’s verified identity, so anonymous or throwaway endorsements don’t work. You can’t vouch for yourself.
What is the difference between my Vouch Link and Public Profile Link?
Vouch Link (knownguy.com/v/yourname): The personal link you send to colleagues when asking them to vouch for you.
Public Profile Link (knownguy.com/p/yourname): Your shareable verification page for recruiters, CVs, and social profiles — where accumulated trust is shown.
Where can I use my Public Profile?
Treat knownguy.com/p/yourname as your one professional trust link — a living page that shows who stands behind your work, not just a static bio.
Job applications & CVs: Paste it in cover letters, resume headers, or “portfolio / website” fields so recruiters can verify you in one tap.
Personal websites & portfolios: Add it next to Contact or About so visitors see real-world vouches, not only your own claims.
Social media: Put it in Instagram, X, TikTok, or link-in-bio tools as your professional destination.
LinkedIn (especially useful): Add it to your LinkedIn Featured section, About, or custom website field. Recruiters already live on LinkedIn — your Known Guy link gives them proof beyond endorsements and a polished headline.
What happens if I apply before receiving vouches?
Your public profile and Known Guy badge are available as soon as you sign up. You’re a Known Guy from day one. Once you collect three role vouches, your badge upgrades to Verified Known Guy — and that update is live on your link even after you’ve already submitted a CV.
How is Known Guy different from LinkedIn endorsements?
LinkedIn endorsements can be given by almost anyone with a click, which often turns into low-signal mutual spam. Known Guy focuses on invite-based vouches tied to signed-in identities and real professional relationships — quality over quantity.
How do you protect my private data?
We respect your privacy. Known Guy does not sell your personal information. Your contact details stay private, and only the professional trust signals you choose to share appear on your public profile. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How does Known Guy help recruiters and hiring managers?
Recruiters spend hours filtering cold CVs and running checks late in the process. When a candidate applies with a Known Guy public link, hiring managers can see a transparent chain of real-world vouches earlier in the funnel — reducing risk and speeding up screening.
Can employers post jobs or verify candidates on Known Guy?
Today, job listings are curated for professionals (sourced from partner job data) and applications go to the employer’s own site. Employers and hiring managers can already verify a candidate by opening their Known Guy badge or public profile. Native employer job posting may come later.
Can I delete my account anytime?
Yes. Email us at contact@knownguy.com and we’ll delete your full account and associated data.
